Loosing Internet Connections while gaming

A couple weeks ago, I experienced a problem staying connected to the internet while game.  It probably took me about a couple days to fully figure out why I was having the problem.  I was happy that my wired connection was not failing.

If you find yourself loosing internet connection while gaming, here are a few things you can try.

  1. Go to your network settings and uncheck Internet Protocol 6 (TCP/IPv6).  Usually you can access this by right clicking your wireless card or wired card icon on the bottom right side of your bar. You should then have an option called open network and sharing center.  From there you should be able to click local area connection and then find properties and from there go to properties and then you should be able to find the Internet Protocol 6 (TCP/IPv6).
  2. If that does not work You should go to your device manager which you can find by going to control panel and then system and then device manager.  From there you should be able to find your network card located in the section called network adapters.  Right click your adapter and then go to properties.  From there go to advanced. Find Speed and Duplex and change the value to 100 mbps Full Duplex.  If that does not work go in the same area and find receive side scaling and disable the value.
  3. If none of the above suggestion do not work here is one last thing to try. Go to your power option which also can be found in your control panel.  Try to use the high performance option rather than using the other ones.  Make sure that you turn off display and put the computer to sleep is set to never.  This is the one that finally worked for me to be able to stay connected.  I suggest you try the other ones first before trying this one.

These are not my fixes but fixes that I found throughout the internet trying to fix my problem.  I can’t remember what site I had found the information on so I can’t give a source as to  who it was.  I just did a search and with time found the information I needed.  The source comes from at least two websites and one if not mistaken was posted on the microsoft’s website on their forums.
